Exyte Hargreaves holds its 6th annual EYTP Finals Day

Engineering Youth Training Programme participants

Exyte Hargreaves held its 6th Annual Finals Day as part of its continuing Engineering Young Talent Programme (EYTP) at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. The event was attended by over 160 people, including pupils and teachers from the four schools, staff from Exyte Hargreaves and other prominent members of the local business community.

Designed specifically to encourage and nurture new talent and interest not only in the company but in engineering in general, the event saw 130 pupils from Philips High School in Whitefield, Broad Oak Sports College in Bury, Blessed John Henry Newman RC College in Chadderton and St. Matthews Primary School in Little Lever, take part in full day of activities including a tour of the museum, presentations of the projects the school teams had been working on for several weeks, various challenges on the day and the culmination of the event, the presentation of the awards.

Also there, 8 new apprentices, some with proud parents in the audience, were presented with their contracts of employment, beginning in September 2019.

The EYTP Finals Day has now been held at the Museum of Science and Industry for the last 5 years, and the venue itself is an excellent way of showing the impact that engineering and manufacturing can have on the modern world.

Andy Sneyd, Managing Director of Exyte Hargreaves, said, “Engineers are essential for the future survival of the planet as highlighted recently by the extinction rebellion movement. Engineering as a career offers a plethora of exciting equal opportunities for girls as it does boys. It can be very well paid and supports continuous development throughout individual careers. The EYTP finals days is a privilege to host and one we hope to develop across the UK as our business grows.”
