Success at the 2019 BESA North West Awards
BESA North West held its annual awards ceremony on Saturday 22 June 2019 at the Crowne Plaza in Manchester. Exyte Hargreaves had a highly successful evening, picking up two awards and two commendations.
HR Business Partner, James Hoare won the award for Staff Driven Improvement Initiative of the Year. Melissa Lee, one of the many apprentices Exyte Hargreaves has in its workforce, collected the trophy for Heating and Ventilation Apprentice of the Year.
The subject of the winning entry for Staff Driven Improvement is the Mental Heath Awareness programme that Exyte Hargreaves now runs. Along with a training scheme of greater awareness across senior management, Exyte Hargreaves also now has 7 trained Mental Health First Aiders, who are available to offer initial support to all staff members.
Melissa, who won in her category, is only the second female apprentice fabricator welder to be employed by Exyte Hargreaves, in what has traditionally been viewed as a male dominated role. A graduate of the Engineering Young Talent Programme (EYTP) that Exyte Hargreaves runs with several local schools and colleges, Melissa has garnered much praise from colleagues throughout the business and was also picked to be a subject for the Citizens of Manchester promotional campaign.
Exyte Hargreaves were also Highly Commended in the Employer Training Initiative of the Year and Employer Engagement with Training Development of the Year categories.
The category winners will go forward along with other regional winners, to compete at the BESA National Awards, which are being held at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London on 21 November 2019.
